The world is always cluttered with shadows. The contrast between the presence and the absence of light is key in photography, but the same can be said of any form of expression as shadows are what is hidden – what creates negative space in order to turn what’s visible into pathos. Theatre and cinema are dominated by light’s ability to enhance what – once lit – is no longer lost in dim light.
My voice is therefore based on the tradeoff between lit content and dim context, and to that it aims.
My name is Niccolò C. M. Bianchi and I am an amateur photographer based in Milan (Italy). Born in 1989, I fondly developed a connection with photography only during my adolescence. Thanks to a rich series of fortunate chances, I got passionate about photography and it now dominates my free time along with creative writing.
I have a strong preference for street photography and portraiture, as the common element among either genres (i.e. mankind) works for both as an ideal mean of expression. Travelling stimulate my velleity of being creating, while walking around my own city pushes me to win over sloth – a natural, yet un-wanted, companion in the weekends. I work in the biotech industry in the weekends, ‘limiting’ photography to my free time: I do in fact believe that such attitude towards the separation between work and passion is fruitful and helps you to work hard in both fields, as you can then appreciate how either of them elevates one’s many abilities.
Al mondo vi è sempre ombra nelle cose e delle cose. Il contrasto fra la presenza e l’assenza di luce è dominante nella fotografia, ma lo stesso vale in qualsiasi forma d’espressione, in quanto l’ombra è il celato – ciò che per sottrazione eleva il visibile a oggetto di pathos. Nel teatro e nel cinema la luce dona valore solo quando illumina una porzione di un intero che altrimenti sarebbe immerso nel buio metaforico e non.
Il mio linguaggio si fonda dunque sul contrappasso, e ad esso mira.
Il mio nome è Niccolò C. M. Bianchi e sono un fotografo amatoriale residente a Milano. Nato nel 1989, ho sviluppato una forte affezione per la fotografia solo durante l’adolescenza. Grazie ad una florida sequenza di fortuite coincidenze, ho avuto modo di sviluppare questa mia passione che ora domina, insieme alla scrittura, il mio tempo libero.
Prediligo la fotografia di strada e i ritratti, in quanto l’elemento comune che contraddistingue questi due generi (i.e. l’uomo) sia per entrambi un’ottimo mezzo d’espressione. I viaggi stimolano le mie velleità di creatività, laddove invece le passeggiate nella mia città mi stimolano a vincere l’accidia che prende il sopravvento durante i fine-settimana. Durante la settimana infatti lavoro nel settore biotecnologico, ‘limitando’ la fotografia ai miei momenti liberi: credo infatti che tale atteggiamento nei confronti della separazione fra impiego e passione possa essere produttiva e stimolante, in quanto media la coscienza del valore che tale separazione ha nei confronti delle molte capacità di ciascuno.
